Reconsideration

Procedure for requesting reconsideration of: materials, meeting rooms, displays, programs, and online applications.

Salt Lake County residents are encouraged to speak to staff about their concerns at their library branch. If a patron would like their request for reconsideration to be addressed by the Library’s Reconsideration Committee, fill out and submit the form below. A printable copy is also available and can be returned to any Salt Lake County Library location.

Upon receipt of the reconsideration form, a task force of library staff will be formed to review the request and determine how to proceed based on the Library’s Reconsideration of Materials Policy.

  • A response is generally provided by the Reconsideration Committee within 3-4 weeks.
  • Appeal of the Committee’s decision may be made to the Library Director within 30 days; the Director will then have 30 days to respond.
  • Appeal of the Director’s decision may be made to the Library Board within 30 days. The Board will respond with the final decision following the next Library Board Meeting.
