Jazzy Olivo

Latin jazz from the Caribbean with Jazzy Olivo and her six-piece backing band.

Jazz vocalist Jazzy Olivo grew up winning numerous singing competitions in her home country, the Dominican Republic. At age 17, she moved to Salt Lake City and continued singing, studying with David Schmidt, Head of Voice in the Musical Theater Department at the University of Utah. Jazzy represented Utah in the International Spanish Version of American Idol “La Academia USA,” and was awarded sixth place. That led her to move to Mexico City where she made her acting debut as Motor Mouth Mabel on “Hairspray, the Musical.” Jazzy lived in Mexico City for five years and became dedicated to Musical Theater, performing in Aladdin, Chicago and Mukuye, to name a few. She has performed with The Utah Symphony and different local bands, such as The Jazz Vespers Quartet, Changing Lanes Experience and Latin Jazz All-Stars. Jazzy co-founded the Jazz Fusion Band “The Mix” with pianist Courtney Isaiah Smith. She is now embarking on her solo career, with the release of her first solo single Para ti, the first track of her EP released in 2019. All music and collaborations are on digital format in all social media platforms.
