The County Library Book Discussion Groups
Want to attend a book discussion group? Here is a list of just some of the many groups that meet at various branches of the County Library.
The Tuesday Evening Book Group meets the second Tuesday of the month at 7 pm in the Columbus Senior Center.
This long-running group reads a mix of fiction and nonfiction. Newcomers are always welcome!
The Feminist Book Club meets the second Saturday of each month from 3-4:30 pm in room 101.
The Feminist Book Club is a casual, inclusive book group designed to focus on Feminism and gender equality. It is a mixed gender group, and LGBTQ friendly. The idea is to discuss the voice, tone, and themes of our chosen works, and then to reach out into a wider discussion of Feminism.
The Mental Wellness Book Club meets the second Wednesday of each month, from 7-8:30 pm in room 101.
The Mental Wellness Book Club reads a diverse selection of fiction and non-fiction exploring issues concerned with mental health. The Mental Wellness Book Club is not a support group, but we do endeavor to create an environment where participants feel free to relate their own experiences to the topics we are discussing.
Art Book Club discussions take place the first Wednesday of every month at 6 pm.
The Art Book Club pursues a variety of books focused on visual arts and artists: some are for looking, some for reading, most for both. We complement our chosen books with gallery and museum visits, and other intriguing opportunities to view art. (Field trip times vary)
Join the Millcreek Book Club on the fourth Wednesday each month at 10:30 am in the Millcreek Community Center.
Come chit-chat, rant and rave about this month's book club pick at Riverton branch. Meets the second Tuesday of each month at 7 pm.
Join us each month for lively discussions of a variety of titles, both fiction and nonfiction. Generally meets the third Thursday of each month at 7 pm.
Our Book club meets the third Tuesday of each month at 12:30 pm at the South Jordan Senior Center at 10778 S Redwood Rd
The Book Club Set Collection housed at the South Jordan branch consists of more than 85 popular book club titles in sets of 6-15 copies. These copies may be checked out singly or as a set by any County Library Card holder.
Nonfiction Book Club: Come join Whitmore librarians in a discussion of new and noteworthy narrative nonfiction. Meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 7 pm.

Reserving Multiple Copies for your Book Club
Call Customer Service at 801.943.4636 and ask to speak to a librarian located in the branch where you would like to pick up the books. If there are sufficient available copies, the librarian will help you reserve them for your club and answer questions.
Alternatively, you can check the online catalog to make sure the Book Club Set collections at our Millcreek or South Jordan locations have an available number of copies you need and pick them up directly. It may still be beneficial to call Customer Service ahead of time to reserve your desired books.
Patrons may reserve up to 25 copies of an individual title, as long as we have that many available. Holds can be placed a week prior to the pickup date.
Q: What branches stock Book Club Set collections?
A: Currently, Book Club Set collections are only located at our Millcreek and South Jordan branches, though they are available to any patron, no matter which branch is closest to you.
Q: Do I have to pick up and return the collection from Millcreek or South Jordan?
A: No. As long as you reserve the books, you can pick them up from any County Library branch. Likewise, you may return materials at any branch, regardless of where they were picked up.
Q: How many titles are in the Book Club Set collections?
A: We have more than 75 titles to choose from. Each title has between 15-25 copies.
Q: How long can I keep the books?
A: Like regular items, the check-out period is 21 days, and books can be renewed as long as no one else has placed a hold.
Q: Can I reserve from the Book Club Set collections in advance?
A: Yes, up to one week in advance due to the popularity many of our Book Club Set collection titles have.
Q: My book group wants to read a title not found in the Book Club Set collections. Now what?
A: You can reserve any title for your book group, provided there are enough copies available in the system to handle your needs, with the normal limit of 25 copies per group.
