Viridian FAQs
- What is the Library's Viridian Event Center?
Salt Lake County Library's Viridian Event Center is a multi-use space with endless event potential. The building lobby functions as a pre-event space and our large multipurpose room can be divided into three (3) sections, creating more intimate spaces, or it can be left open for larger functions.
- Who can use the Library’s Viridian Event Center?
Designed for any number of uses – from public events to private parties – we welcome a variety of activities. Contact us and we can discuss event details, availability, rates and more.
- What are the office hours?
Monday thru Friday, 10 a.m.- 5 p.m. and appointments are encouraged. Our office is typically closed during major holidays, coinciding with Library hours.
- Is an appointment required to tour the space?
The space is available to be toured during regular business hours and appointments are encouraged. If you would like to tour outside of these hours, please schedule an appointment by calling 801.948.7858.
- What is the maximum capacity of the space?
Each room capacity depends on the setup and the nature of the event. Refer to our rate schedule to determine the capacity available with your event’s arrangements.
- Does our event need to be scheduled during Library operating hours?
No. Events can be scheduled outside of Library operating hours. Sundays and holidays are also available at one and a half (1.5) times the normal rate.
- Is there a minimum time requirement for an event?
There is a minimum requirement of four (4) hours for any event, to include setup, clean up, etc. If the event continues beyond the previously arranged rental time, an additional hour will be charged.
- Are all the events at the Viridian free to attend?
Yes, unless otherwise specified in event details.

- How do I rent space?

- What spaces are available for rent?
A multipurpose room that can be sectioned into three (3) areas, an outdoor amphitheater that can be connected to the multipurpose room and a pre-function lobby. Behind the scenes we have a wonderful catering kitchen, easily accessible staging areas and a loading dock. Give us a call, 801.948.7858, to schedule a tour and view additional space options.

- What does it cost to rent the space?
We have a number of options available based on the space, time and equipment you'll need for your event. We also offer non-profit and government rates. View our Rate Schedule or call 801.948.7858 for details.
- What forms of payment are accepted?
We accept major credit cards, checks, and cash. Checks should be made out to "Viridian Event Center" or "Salt Lake County Library."
- Are discounted rates available?
Discounted room rental rates are available with proof of non-profit 501(c)3 or government status. We strive to offer the most affordable experience by eliminating as many additional costs as possible. As a result, we adhere to a firm set of rental prices. NOTE: Equipment rental rates are not discounted.
- Is there a refund for cancelled events?
100% refund with 90 days notice. 50% refund with 30 days notice. Cancellations with less than 30 days notice will NOT receive a refund. The Library’s Viridian Event Center may cancel based on the terms of the contract – this includes cancelling an event that is not meeting its obligations or changes the requested use of the space.
- Does our event need to be scheduled during Library operating hours?

- What is the policy on food/drinks and catering?
To ensure the best possible services and standard of excellence, all food served in the event center must come from a caterer from our list. Food and drinks are not allowed in the adjacent West Jordan Library are only permitted in the lobby/pre-function areas, amphitheater and the multipurpose room(s).
- Is alcohol permitted for events/on premises?
Alcohol is permitted for qualifying private events only. All alcohol service and permits must be arranged through your caterer, chosen from our list. We reserve the right to end an event prematurely if policies are not being followed.
- What decorations are allowed?
For safety reasons, decorations such as open flame candles and fireworks are not permitted. We reserve the right to approve the location and manner of decoration display. For more details and information, please contact our office.
- How much of the setup/cleanup is required of me?
We provide the basic setup – including chairs, tables and Audio/Visual equipment. Personalized decorations can be setup/broken down by the client to ensure the needs of the client and the event are met. Setup details are included in the rental contract. - How much parking is available and is there a fee?
There is no charge associated with parking; however, the Library’s Viridian Event Center is a public space shared with the West Jordan Library and visitors of Veteran’s Memorial Park. We cannot guarantee unlimited parking or make special parking reservations for events. There is limited additional parking available at Veteran’s Memorial Park to the North. We are also conveniently located within walking distance from the TRAX West Jordan City Center station. View a map and directions.
- Do you provide free WI-FI?
Yes, free Wi-Fi is provided. Select the network “SLCO-LIB” and accept the terms and conditions to connect.
- Is smoking allowed on the premises?
In accordance with the Utah Indoor Clean Air Act, smoking is prohibited entirely in places of public access and publicly owned buildings and offices.
- Is there access for people with disabilities?
Yes, the entire building is built to ADA standards and special accommodations can be made upon request.
