Welcome to Salt Lake County Library Services’ Living Books Library. The purpose of this project is to promote dialogue, reduce prejudices and encourage understanding. Characterized by simplicity and a positive approach, the Living Books Library is a library set up as a space for dialogue and interaction.
Visitors to the Living Books Library are given the opportunity to speak informally with “people on loan” (Living Books), this group being extremely varied in age, gender and cultural background. The Living Books Library enables groups to break stereotypes by challenging the most common prejudices in a positive manner.
We have modeled our Living Books Library on the International Human Library. “The Human Library is an innovative method designed to promote dialogue, reduce prejudices and encourage understanding.”
