Express Start

1. Download Books on the Go software for eBooks.

EBSCOHost

• Create a free EBSCOHost account.
• Log into your EBSCOHost account. Search and open an eBook to read on your PC. EBSCOHost does not support any portable devices. These eBooks are only readable in a browser window.

OverDrive

• Navigate to the OverDrive Site Download Page to select appropriate software for your portable eBook device - Adobe Digital Editions or Mobipocket Reader.
• The first time that you open Adobe Digital Editions, you must activate the program. Adobe Digital Editions can be activated anonymously, or by using an Adobe ID.

2) You can search or browse all eBook titles from our library catalog.

• Using your browser navigate to the Salt Lake County Library Catalog
• Click on the Search> Audiovisual> link.
• Search for eBooks under "Software Title Starts With"
• Locate an eBook format and click the title for more information.
• "Click here to request eBook" takes you directly to the website to select and download your title

More Searching Tips

Search & read eBooks directly from the NetLibrary Recorded Books site.

• Login to your Log into your EBSCOHost account.
• Open the EBSCOHost title.
• Then click eBook Full Text. This opens up the eBook in your browser. Click on the Navigation links to begin reading.

Search & download eBooks directly from the OverDrive site..

• Search for the eBook title to download directly from the Salt Lake County Libraries OverDrive site.
• If the title is immediately available for download, there will be a link, Add to Digital Bookcart. Otherwise, if all of the copies are checked out, there will be a link to Place a Hold. If you place a hold, you will be notified by email when the eBook is ready for download.
• If the title is available for download, click the link and check that the format will play on your device.
• Next Proceed to Checkout.
• Enter your library card number & pin.
• Click the Confirm Check Out button.

In a hurry! Find OverDrive eBook titles to download immediately.

• Open OverDrive’s Advanced Search page.
• Under Formats pull down the format you prefer for your portable device.
• Check the box - Only show titles with copies available.
• Now you can search for a title, or just use the Search button to see every title available immediately for download from OverDrive.
