April Musical Events

Jazz trumpeter Chris Botti visits Abravanel Hall on April 2. The venue suits the classical-leaning music on Botti's newest album Impressions. The album features songs by Chopin and the Gershwins and guest artists like Andrea Bocelli and Herbie Hancock. The concert promises to be an evening of lyrical, romantic music. For a change of pace, California rockers Young the Giant will be at The Complex on April 10. The group had a radio smash with the song "Cough Syrup" and has just released a new album called Mind Over Matter. The Malian group Tinariwen has become popular with rock audiences worldwide. The group is touring in support of their newest album Emmaar, which features their distinctive guitar sounds. Tinariwen will be performing at The State Room on April 12.

That's It!

Preservation Hall Jazz Band brings the spirit and music of New Orleans to the Capitol Theatre on April 14 as part of the JazzSLC series. The group has experienced a resurgence in popularity under the leadership of Ben Jaffe. That's It!, which came out in 2013, is the group's first-ever album of all-original songs. Hard rockers Sevendust will be touching down at The Complex on April 21. 2013's Black Out the Sun found the group camped out on the heavy side of rock. Sevendust will be releasing Time Travelers and Bonfires, a more acoustic flavored album, on April 15.
