August Musical Events

August offers a multitude of concerts to choose from. Outdoor concerts are in full swing from USANA to Red Butte Garden, as well as indoor club and arena shows. Paul McCartney lands in Salt Lake on August 7 for the show of the summer at EnergySolutions Arena. His setlist will include songs from the Beatles to Wings to New, his latest solo album. Vocalist Ray LaMontagne will be playing at Red Butte Garden on August 8. Supernova, his fifth album, adds a brighter, almost psychedelic sheen to his folkie, heartfelt style. Beck will be appearing at Pioneer Park on August 14 as part of the Twilight Concert Series. His new album Morning Phase is his first since 2008 and its quiet, contemplative vibe is similar to his earlier album Sea Change. The much buzzed about Future Islands will be opening for Beck. The group is touring in support of their new release Singles.

Morning Phase

The concerts at Red Butte Garden continue with David Gray on August 21. The British singer-songwriter made a big splash in the early 2000s with his song "Babylon." His latest album Mutineers continues his tradition of tuneful, passionate songcraft. The Head and the Heart close out the Twilight Concert Series on August 28. This exuberant ensemble put out their second album, Let's Be Still, in 2013. Expect an evening of rousing, singalong songs that mesh well with the end of summer.
