Ein Heldenleben; Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme

The Utah Symphony continues a very busy 2014-2015 season with the return of guest conductor Mark Wigglesworth for two performances of Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker and Shostakovich's Symphony No. 15 on January 9th & 10th at Abravanel Hall. Guest conductor, Vladimir Kulenovic leads a chamber series at St. Mary's Church in Park City on January 15th featuring pieces by Debussy, Francaix, Poulenc and Ibert. On January 30th and 31st Thierry Fischer returns to conduct Strauss' A Hero's Life. This performance also includes Wagner's Siegfried Idyll and Berg's Violin Concerto, "To the Memory of an Angel".  For ticket and other information visit the Utah Symphony.

The Pearl Fishers

The Utah Opera opens its 2015 season with Bizet's The Pearl Fishers on January 17th, 19th, 21st, 23rd and 25th at the Capitol Theatre. Set in India, this opera explores the passion and rivalry which threatens two friends leading to a fight for survival. The cast includes Andrea Carroll (Leila), Philippe Talbot (Nadir), Craig Irvin (Zurga) and Derrick Parker (Nourabad).
