The Draper Library opened in November, 2005. The building is a lively mix of old and new elements, surrounded by a xeriscaped landscape. At 20,000 square feet, the library holds a collection of approximately 105,000 items, including books, DVDs, CDs, audio books, CD-ROMs, and magazines.

Draper library has 25 personal computer workstations for the public, as well as wireless access. We have a large meeting for groups up to 80, and a small conference room for groups of 10 or fewer.

New technology at the library includes a RFID self-check out system, and a sorter that checks in and sorts materials. Our librarians offer a wide range of programs and reference services to all ages.

Energy & Environmental Design

The Draper Library has recently been awarded Silver Leadership in Environmental and Energy Design (LEED) certification by the LEED organization. LEED is a set of standards used to measure a building’s impact on the natural environment.

There are numerous benefits to a "green building." Environmental benefits include the enhancement and protection of ecosystems and biodiversity, the protection of air and water quality, the reduction of solid waste and the conservation of natural resources. Health and community benefits include improving air, thermal and acoustic environments, enhancing occupant comfort and health, minimizing strain on local infrastructure and contributing to overall quality of life. There are also significant economic benefits like reducing operating costs, enhancing building and land values, improving productivity and learning, and optimizing life-cycle economic performance.
