Alta Reading Room opened in September, 1981 on the second floor of the Alta Community Center. Visitors can access the Internet using public computers or a wireless connection, find leisure reading materials, or browse the library system's catalog of 2 million items. Holds can be placed on library materials found at any of the 18 County libraries using a library card obtained at any of these library locations.

 Alta residents enjoy a unique service called "Alta-Mail-a-Book" where holds are delivered directly to a resident's home address through the mail. Materials can then be returned at any County library in the Salt Lake Valley or can be returned by mail at the borrower's expense.
