Our Librarian by Appointment service offers 30 minutes of personalized assistance from a professional librarian on the topic of your choice.

 

Typical consultation topics:

- e-readers, tablets and other electronic content (magazines, music and movies) and devices

- General research and database searching

A:Just your time. This is a free service.

 

Q:Is this service available at all Salt Lake County Libraries?

A:Yes.

 

Q:What if I have a simple question that doesn’t require a face-to-face appointment?

A:You may use our online Ask a Librarian service or call Customer Service, 801-943-4636.

 

Q: Do I need a library card to make an appointment?

A: No, a Library card is not needed for an appointment. However, we encourage everyone to sign up for a card to make the best use of our resources and services. Apply for a Library card online or at one of our eighteen community Libraries.

 

Q: What questions and topics can Librarians answer?

A: We are available to help with research and guidance on topics of your choice. Common requests include help with general research, business research, database and web searching, job readiness and assistance with downloadable eContent.

 

Q: Do you offer help with computers, tablets, phones and other electronic devices?

A: Yes. If you need one-on-one help using your phone or tablet to download and use our eBooks, eAudiobooks, eMagazines, eMusic and more, we are here to help.

 

Q: Who will be helping me?

A: A Salt Lake County Library Services librarian. We will review your request and determine the best person on staff to help you based on your preferred location and availability.

 

Q: How long is the appointment?

A: Appointments are 30 minutes. If more time is needed another appointment may be scheduled or, it time permits, the librarian may be able to extend the appointment.

 

Q: How do I make an appointment?

A: Appointments can be made online, in person or by calling Customer Service, 801-943-4636.

 

Q: When will you confirm my appointment/request?

A: We will contact you within two (2) business days to confirm.

 

Q: Where will my appointment take place?

A: At the Library location of your choice.

 

Q: What if I need to cancel my appointment?

A: Please contact the librarian with whom you made the appointment. You may also call Customer Service, 801-943-4636.
